Description:

  1. Role and Responsibilities:
    1. Accept telephone calls from patients
    2. Promote clear and coherent verbal communication
    3. Accurately assesses each patient’s condition/issue by actively listening to callers and asking probative questions.
    4. Evaluate the significance of the patient’s issue and determine whether emergency care is needed, if an appointment should be made or if the concern should be reported to the appropriate provider
    5. Provides appropriate and courteous telephone advice including plan of care and patient education to callers according to approved protocols
    6. Appropriately and accurately documents initial and ongoing telephone conversations with documentation being completed immediately after the call ends
    7. Accurately communicates information to appropriate provider and/or clinical support staff (RN/LPN/MA in the practice) as needed either over the telephone or by routing the necessary information through EMR.
    8. Assist with tasks when call volume allows
    9. Conducts nurse visits for patients needing vaccinations, blood pressure checks, etc, when available.
    10. Other duties as assigned

  1. Qualifications and Education Requirements:
    1. Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed in the state of Washington as an RN
    2. Excellent communication skills to include written and verbal comprehension and expression
    3. Ability to manage a fast-paced work environment, self-directed and motivated
    4. Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards of excellence and organizational values
    5. Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain competency as required for job duties
    6. Understands legal scope of practice
  • Preferred qualifications
    1. Previous phone triage experience
    2. Outpatient clinic experience

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical demands: Standing, walking, reaching, lifting, bending, typing.
