Role and Responsibilities:

  • Protect the confidentiality of patient’s personal, financial, and medical information.
  • Register new patients with accurate patient and insurance information and update existing accounts as needed, utilizing special software and procedures.
  • Verify patient health insurance policies understanding referrals and pre-authorization requirements.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and schedule appointments on specialized system.
  • Take concise, accurate phone messages, execute solutions and /or forward via electronic tasking as appropriate.
  • Fax and/or scan confidential patient information.
  • Communicate with physicians and nurses to create an efficient work environment.
  • Train other receptionists when necessary.
  • Using HER software, accurately index and file scanned documents and information into patient’s electronic medical record.
  • Ability to maneuver online websites and software including login, accessing the daily schedule, search for patient, accessing patient profile, process phone calls, accessing unfinished calls, use a text template, view task list, work task list, create new task and other competencies as required by department.
  • Monitor patient EHR and invite to patient portal and scanned document filing tasks as determined in portal workflow.
  • Greet and assist patients in a friendly, courteous and professional manner.
  • Other duties as assigned by the department manager, or physician.

  • Good physical condition, able to stand, walk, sit, bend and lift 15-20lbs

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Physical demands: Lifting, sitting, typing, reaching, continuous and repetitive work.

Position Type/Expected Hours to work: Monday-Friday and Saturday and Sunday as needed for callouts
