Description:

Role and Responsibilities
1. |
Greet and assist patients in a friendly, courteous and professional manner |
2. |
Answers, transfers, and directs phone calls from patient and various organizations. |
3. |
Gives routing, non-interpretive information on request and keeps current on daily clinic activities to respond to and provide callers with accurate information. |
4. |
Receives emergency calls, forwards calls to appropriate departments, ensures that callers reach appropriate people or forwards to public safety. |
5. |
Maintain on-call physician schedule, input and communication with after-hours answering service. |
6. |
Using EHR software, accurately index and file scanned documents and information into patient’s electronic medical record |
7. |
Process physician Ins and Outs |
8. |
Train other switchboard operators when necessary |
9. |
Monitors and tracks wheelchairs, Contact nursing department if a patient needs wheelchair assistance |
10. |
Performs clerical tasks as needed. |
11. |
Monitor patient EHR and invite to patient portal and scanned document filing tasks as determined in portal workflow |
12. |
Monitors clinic activities. Receive and directs clinic traffic. |
13. |
Protect the confidentiality of patient’s personal, financial, and medical information |
14. |
Other duties as assigned by the department manager, lead receptionist or physician |
